Personal bio
Shawon Kinew is a postdoctoral fellow in the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship of Scholars in the Humanities at Stanford University and a lecturer in its Department of Art and Art History. She specializes in the history of painting and sculpture in early modern Italy. She received her PhD from Harvard University in the History of Art and Architecture in 2016. Shawon has held residential fellowships from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation at the Bibliotheca Hertziana, Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome and at the Getty Research Institute during the theme of Art & Materiality. Her research has been supported by the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, the Fondazione Lemmermann, and Harvard University.
