Personal bio
Richard Saller is Professor of Classics and History and Chair of the Classics Department. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge. His research and teaching are in the field of Roman history, especially Roman society and economy. He has published books about patronage and family life in the Roman empire and, most recently, co-edited with Ian Morris and Walter Scheidel The Cambridge Economic History of the Greco-Roman World (2007).
