Personal bio
Jonah Willihnganz is Director of the Stanford Storytelling Project and co-founder of the LifeWorks Program for Integrative Learning. He has taught courses on narrative craft and psychology in American Studies, Theater and Performance Studies, the School of Medicine, the School of Education, the Program in Writing and Rhetoric, and the d. School. He received his PhD in English from Brown University and his MFA in Creative Writing from Hollins University. He has published, fiction, essays, and scholarship on American modernism. His research interests are primarily in narratology, media theory, and oral traditions. His most recent research and teaching focus on how are stories are used in contemplative traditions. Before coming to Stanford in 2002 he taught literature and creative writing at the Rhode Island School of Design and in 2006-2007 he was a fellow at the Stanford Humanities Center.
