Annette Salmeen, D.Phil. is a lecturer and Core Course Coordinator in the Human Biology Program. She did her doctoral work in Structural Biology at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and a post-doc in the Chemical and Systems Biology Department at Stanford. Prior to joining the Human Biology Program she was a project scientist at the DOE Joint Genome Institute at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. As an undergraduate in Chemistry at UCLA, Annette was an NCAA Champion and 1996 Olympian in swimming. In addition to her interests in the biological sciences and science education, she is an active masters swimmer and is interested in the role of sports in building communities, educating youth and helping to promote physical and mental well being.
