Personal bio
Aaron Straight graduated in 1989 with a Bachelors degree in Biology from Dartmouth College. During his undergraduate training he studied the process of cytokine signaling in T-cells with Dr. Kendall Smith. He joined the Ph.D program at UCSF in 1990 where he trained with Dr. Andrew W. Murray and worked closely with the laboratory of Dr. John W. Sedat, studying the process of mitotic chromosome segregation. After completing his Ph.D. training he moved to Harvard Medical School where he studied the process of cytokinesis in animal cells with Dr. Timothy J. Mitchison. He joined the Stanford Biochemistry faculty in 2004 and currently works on chromosome segregation, genome organization and cell division. As past-times he breeds honeybees, runs, backpacks and fishes.
