Personal bio
Whitney Lynn employs a wide range of media to create works that reframe narratives of familiar objects, images, and events. Mining cultural and political histories, Lynn uses tactics of appropriation to reflect on subjects such as militarized landscapes, historical archetypes, and the role of images in the creation of myth. Lynn was the first-ever National Artist in Residence at The Neon Museum in Las Vegas and in 2017 will be an Artist in Residence at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Her projects have been shown at venues such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Torrance Art Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, di Rosa, and the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries, among many others.
