Rwaida "Rudy" Gharib is pursuing her PhD in environment and resources at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. Her research focuses on environmental justice and the policy changes and financing needed to support the climate resilience of vulnerable populations facing displacement/migration. Rwaida has worked in humanitarian aid and international development for more than 15 years, serving as an advisor to the World Bank Group, UN Development Programme (UNDP), and other international organizations that support post-climate disaster response and development finance. As a presidential appointee, Rwaida served the Obama Administration in multiple capacities in support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the US Department of State, and the White House initiative, Power Africa.
