Personal bio
Daniel L. Rubin, MD, MS is Assistant Professor of Radiology and in Medicine (Biomedical Informatics Research) at Stanford University and a Member of the Stanford Cancer Center and the Bio-X interdisciplinary research program. He received his MD in 2005 and Masters degree in Biomedical Informatics in 2000 from Stanford and did his clinical training in radiology at Stanford. His NIH-funded research program focuses on the intersection of biomedical informatics and imaging science, developing computational methods and applications to access and integrate clinical, molecular, and imaging data, to extract quantitative information and meaning from images, to enable data mining and discovery of image biomarkers, and to translate these methods into practice through applications to improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical effectiveness. He is Chair of the RadLex Steering Committee of RSNA, a project to develop a standardized, comprehensive terminology for radiology. He is also Chair of the Informatics Committee of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN), and Co-Chair of the Medical Imaging Systems Working Group of the American Medical Informatics Association. Dr. Rubin has published over 100 scientific publications in imaging informatics and radiology. He has taught courses on imaging informatics at the American Medical Informatics Association, the Radiological Society of North America, and the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine. He is currently teaching. At Stanford he is currently teaching Biomedical Informatics 260: Computational Methods for Biomedical Image Analysis and Interpretation ( http://bmi260.stanford.edu/).
