Personal bio
Benjamin Liupaogo is currently on the Stanford University Department of Music faculty as a Lecturer (Voice). He is an accomplished singer who has performed in Italy and throughout the U.S. He is currently an AGMA Tenor with San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Extra Chorus with San Francisco Opera, and a tenor with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale. He was Assistant to the General Director of the Musica nelle Marche summer program in Urbino, Italy, from 2017–20 and performed in many cities in Italy. This past summer, Benjamin returned to Italy as a Vocal Coach/Tenor for Musica nelle Marche. Benjamin also joined the faculty as a vocal coach for Boston University Tanglewood Institute Summer of 2022. He is a proud Pacific Islander Samoan and a San Francisco Bay Area native who is a well-versed classical musician. He has performed in various professional companies and organizations in opera, musical theater, concerts, recitals, chamber ensembles, and choral ensembles. Along with singing, Benjamin is a collaborative pianist, voice teacher, piano teacher, repetiteur, vocal coach, church musician, and music director/conductor for musical theater, opera, and choral ensembles. Benjamin holds degrees in vocal performance with a B.M. (vocal performance) from San Francisco State University and an M.M. (vocal performance) from Roosevelt University, Chicago College of Performing Arts. In addition, he holds a master’s degree in sacred music from the University of Notre Dame and a graduate performance certificate from DePaul University, Chicago. He is finishing his dissertation for a D.M.A. in voice performance with a minor in collaborative piano from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
