Deborah Hensler is the Judge John W. Ford Professor of Dispute Resolution and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at Stanford Law School. She received her Bachelor's degree in political science from Hunter College in 1963 and her Ph.D. in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973. A member of the RAND Corporation research staff from 1973-1998, Deborah founded and for many years directed the RAND Survey Research Group and was a founding member and subsequently the Research Director and Director of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice. She joined the Stanford Law faculty in 1998. Deborah is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a fellow of the American Academy of Political and Social Sciences. She holds a personal chair in mass claims resolution at Tilburg University (the Netherlands) and has taught at Melbourne University (Australia) and Catolica Universidad in Lisbon (Portugal). She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on mass torts, complex litigation, class actions and alternative dispute resolution.
