UAR 43: Leland Scholars Program: Introduction to Collaborative Research at Stanford
This course provides an introduction to collaborative college-level research. In this course, students will be grouped by research interests to investigate a significant social issue or challenge. Together we will practice developing research questions; finding appropriate, reliable sources and developing an annotated bibliography; and synthesizing those sources as part of crafting and presenting a well-reasoned argument. Working collaboratively as part of a group, students will research a relevant topic, develop a written proposal, create a poster to visually represent their findings, and present these findings in a poster showcase open to the campus community. This capstone project is an opportunity to practice arguing convincingly about ideas that truly matter to us across rhetorical situations, whether in the classroom or in broader social contexts. No preparation is required ahead of the course.
