CLASSICS 361: Persia and the Greeks

Between 550 and 330 BCE, Greek history unfolded in constant dialog with the Achaemenid Persian Empire. This course uses textual and archaeological evidence to explore this long-term cultural, economic, and strategic relationship from the perspectives of multiple actors, constantly asking how our sense of Greek history changes when we set it within a larger geographical perspective.
