SPECLANG 224: Advanced Readings in Vietnamese

The course is designed to develop reading competence in Vietnamese. Students will reach advanced proficiency in reading authentic Vietnamese materials pertinent to history and culture. Texts will include prose and poetry pieces from Vietnamese literature, media, and historical documents. The emphasis is on vocabulary building, reading comprehension, and translation. An intermediate level of Vietnamese is required. (Prereq. Speclang 224C or placement exam)

SPECLANG 224A: Third-Year Vietnamese, First Quarter

Third Year First Quarter Vietnamese is the first course in a three quarter sequence. Focus of the course is on developing communication and presentation skills in Vietnamese using a variety of topics and different contexts. Authentic audio visual material and use of level appropriate pedagogy tools enhance functional linguistic abilities. Culture is an essential part of the course. Prerequisite 151C or placement test
