Topically focused seminar. Required of all first year Philosophy PhD students. This seminar is limited to first-year Ph.D. students in Philosophy. We have chosen a selection of topics designed to help introduce or clarify several important and broadly applicable philosophical distinctions, notions, tools, strategies, and methods. We will engage with all of these topics with an eye toward highlighting various mistakes that are easy to fall into and not necessarily highlighted in standard graduate philosophy seminars.
