ITALIAN 147: Italian Food Culture from the Renaissance to the Present

Why do Italians enjoy food so much and love to talk about it? This course explores how Italian culinary traditions reflect the country's geo-political and sociological diversity shaping its culture and lifestyle, and sparking a critical debate on ethical and environmental issues relevant to our modern-day global society. Students from varied disciplinary and cultural background are welcome to study, cook, and taste world-renowned Italian recipes! All the class lectures and readings will be in English.
