ILAC 278A: Senior Seminar: Food Studies
This transhistorical research seminar introduces students to the field of food studies while examining Iberian cultures from the Middle Ages to the present. Topics addressed include culture and authenticity, food and the performance of religious identity, maritime expansion, contemporary fishing treaties, agriculture in the medieval Muslim world, contemporary racial violence, monastic life, the Spanish Civil War, and more. Most weeks students will prepare and taste iconic culinary treats. In Spanish.
