A discussion of select writings of Joseph Ratzinger, especially the cultural criticism and his understanding of modernity; his dialogue with Jürgen Habermas; his treatment of the "West" in the Regensburg Address; his standing within German Catholicism; comparisons with thinkers such as Guardini, Böckenförde and others.
