GERMAN 224: German Speaking Women Philosophers (GERMAN 324)

The question pursued in this seminar is which innovative figures of thought have been brought into the discourse either for post-secular theory formation - Walther, Stein, Conrad-Martius - or for political theory formation - Arendt). The focus will not be limited to the historical significance of its subject matter, but would also deal with its systematic relevance - and thus also consider possible connections to current philosophical discourses. Emphasis will be on the relevance of the aforementioned thinkers for us today and raise the question if the ideological and epistemological crisis phenomena of our time - comparable to the "crisis" that Husserl attested to European science a hundred years ago - could possibly also be overcome with the help of a renewed "first", but also applied (phenomenological) philosophy.
