EARTHSYS 131J: Environmental Storytellers Collective
Help imagine, organize, and publish the third edition of Stanford's annual environmental storytelling anthology, Fronds! Under the expert guidance of Tanvi Dutta Gupta, an editorial fellow at Bay Nature magazine, this project will collect the work of tens of writers, artists, and storytellers from across the Stanford community who are sharing their visions of environmentally just worlds and the ways we can get to them. In this one-unit weekly class we'll work together to craft this year's anthology, from the editorial decisions needed to write forewords and introductions and copy-edit pieces to the creative layout choices to make a visually compelling book. Our focus will be on environmental storytelling that helps us imagine, recognize, and build paths forward towards just and sustainable futures, engaging with ideas of environmental justice and environmental wayfinding. Everyone with an interest in compelling environmental storytelling is welcome, whether you love reading, writing, editing, designing, or anything in between or beyond. As we work to make this anthology an annual tradition, come join us to shape the future of environmental justice storytelling at Stanford.
