ASNAMST 10SI: Revolutionary Politics in Asia and Asian America

How has politics among Asians and Asian Americans grown, shifted, changed? What are political ideologies and organizing practices that people in the diaspora have used to fight for collective liberation? We will look at the radical origins of revolutionary fighters in the Asian continent in their struggles against imperial and colonial forces and how that drives the Asian American political identity in the Third World Liberation Front. Besides studying political theoretical texts by Lenin, Fanon, and Bhattacharya, the course will also put an emphasis on organizing strategies of Grace Lee Boggs, ARAK, and adrienne maree brown.
