FILMEDIA 490: Movies and Methods: Adaptation (FILMEDIA 290)
Cinematic adaptations are as old as the beginning of moving pictures but have exploded in recent years. Both source material and destination forms have expanded and shifted, manifesting multiply. Students will inspect various case studies of sources (e.g., novel, nonfiction, poetry, nonliterary material) and destinations (a book becomes a movie becomes a musical becomes a movie musical?) while building a treatment of their own original adaptation from public domain material. Limited in size. Preference given to film and media studies seniors.
