Xiaolin Zheng

Xiaolin Zheng Xiaolin Zheng received her B.S. in Thermal Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2000, her Ph.D. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University in 2006, and her postdoctoral training in Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. She has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University since July 2007. Her Ph.D. work is on ignition chemistry of hydrogen and hydrocarbons in convective-diffusive systems and her postdoctoral work is on building solar cells using silicon nanowires. Currently, her research group is interested in the interfacial science involving nanomaterials, chemistry, thermofluidics, and electronic devices. Specifically, her group focuses on three areas: (1) development of alignment and transfer printing methods to integrate NW circuitry on diverse nonconventional substrates over large scales for sensing application; (2) utilization and characterization of NWs for cost-effective and efficient solar cells; and (3) advancement of flame synthesis to grow diverse one-dimensional (1-D) metal oxide nanowires (NWs) on various functional substrates with control of chemical composition. Her academic and research accomplishments have also been recognized through many awards, such as PECASE (2009), ONR/YIP(2008), DARPA/YFA (2008), Terman Fellowship (2007), Bernard Lewis Fellowship from the Combustion Institute (2004), Amelia Earhart Fellowship from Zonta International Foundation (2003).
