Jeffrey Koseff

Jeffrey Koseff Jeff Koseff received his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1976. After working for a year in Johannesburg he came to Stanford where he received an M.S degree in Civil Engineering in 1978 and a Ph.D in Civil Engineering in 1983. Jeff joined the faculty of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1984, where he served as the Department Chair from 1995 to 1999 and then as the Senior Associate Dean of Engineering from 1999 to 2003. From 2003 to 2016 he served as the Perry L. McCarty Director of the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, and from 2021-2024 he served as the Faculty Director of the Sustainability Science and Practice Program. In 2023 he became one of the founding members of the Oceans Department in the Stanford Doerr School for Sustainability. In addition to his academic pursuits Jeff enjoys travel, golf, photography, and all Stanford sports.
