
Hongchan, a dedicated musician, engineer, and mentor, is passionate about shaping the future of music technology on the web. His doctoral research at Stanford University (2010-2014) under the guidance of leading figures in the field focused on collaborative music creation online, culminating in his thesis, "Collaborative Musicking on the Web."
Currently, Hongchan leads a team of engineers at Google Chrome, spearheading the development of innovative web capabilities. Beyond his role at Google, he actively contributes to the web development community as co-chair of the W3C Audio Working Group, where he collaborates with industry experts to design advanced audio features for the web platform.
Additionally, Hongchan's commitment to fostering the next generation of music technologists is evident in his role as an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University, where he mentors and coaches students and early-career researchers/engineers.
