Pianist Laura Dahl has performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Henley Festival (England), Davies Symphony Hall, the Carmel Bach Festival, and the Tanglewood Music Festival. Internationally in demand as a teacher and coach, Dahl has also taught at the New National Theatre Young Artists Training Program in Tokyo, Japan.
At Stanford, Dahl teaches collaborative and solo piano, chamber music, art song interpretation, and diction. She is the founder and artistic director of the A. Jess Shenson Recital Series at Stanford University, and also Music by the Mountain, a chamber music festival in northern California.
Dahl set a precedent as the first musician to be named a German Chancellor's Scholar of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, where she studied in Berlin under the tutelage of pianist Phillip Moll and baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Dahl was formerly the Associate Director of the San Francisco Boys Chorus. In association with the San Francisco Opera Center, Dahl was an Assistant Conductor for Western Opera Theater, and a member of the Merola Opera Program. She was an invited fellow at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center for two years and also studied at the Banff Academy of Singing and the Music Academy of the West. She has held coaching and accompanying positions at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the University of Michigan Opera Theater. Dahl holds degrees from the University of Michigan School of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music.
