Johannes Eichstaedt

Johannes Eichstaedt I use social text (e.g., from Facebook, Twitter, Reddit) to measure the psychological states of large populations and individuals to determine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that drive physical illness (like heart disease), depression, or support psychological well-being. A.I. methods and fine-grained language analyses with NLP allow us to understand psychological phenomena better and measure their expression unobtrusively and at scale for large populations. My teaching revolves around making NLP and machine learning methods available to students in the social sciences.
