Edward Chang Ed Chang has been an integral part of the Computer Science department as an adjunct professor since 2019. With a PhD from Stanford University obtained in 1999, his career has been marked by significant achievements in both teaching and research. In 2003, he was awarded tenure at UC Santa Barbara, and from 2016 to 2019, he made notable contributions as a visiting scholar at the UC Berkeley Virtual Reality Lab, focusing on the application of VR technologies to enhance surgical procedures. Between 2006 and 2012, Ed served as the Director of Research at Google, playing a pivotal role in securing sponsorship for ImageNet and leading the charge in the development of parallel machine learning algorithms. His recent research endeavors have concentrated on the fields of healthcare and Generative AI, culminating in the invention of SocraSynth and Multi-LLM Collaborative Intelligence. This breakthrough is celebrated for its ability to tackle the recognized limitations of Large Language Models (LLMs). Recognized for his substantial contributions to scalable machine learning and healthcare AI, Ed is a recipient of XPRIZE award and is als a fellow of both the ACM and IEEE.
