Syed Zahoor Hasan has received his MS, PhD and MSEM from Stanford in 1980, 1984, and 1987 respectively. After working for a number of leading Silicon Valley companies, Zahoor joined the core team of faculty that set up Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan. During his over 25 years association with LUMS, Zahoor has served in several leadership positions including as dean of the business school and vice chancellor (2001-8). He launched the national outreach program that identifies and mentors bright high school students from the underprivileged sections of the society so that they can obtain admission to LUMS. All those who obtain admission are provided full financial support for the four years of undergraduate education. Dr Hassan has over 50 papers, book chapters and management cases to his credit. His current research interests include management of technology, agricultural supply chains, innovation and entrepreneurship in the developing world. He has been a keen student of how organizations innovate, utilize technology and develop processes for transformation. He has served on the Syndicate of King Edward Medical University, and University of Engineering and Technology; and Boards of Governors of National Textile University, Pakistan School of Fashion Design, Foundation University and Heavy Industries Education City (HITEC). Dr Hassan has been actively involved in helping a number of South Asian higher educational institutions improve their systems and processes as a external reviewer, mentor and accreditation guide and has served as a member of peer-review teams for European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) and South Asian Quality System (SAQS) for accreditation of management schools. He has served as President of association of management development institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) that has nearly 200 leading business schools across South Asia as its members, and Chair IEEE, Lahore Section (2002-3, 2008-9). Dr Hassan is a charter member and Treasurer of TiE, Lahore chapter.
