Personal bio
Stephen Harrison received his Bachelor of Music degree at the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music and his Masters of Music at Boston University. He joined the Stanford faculty in 1983 as cellist of the Stanford String Quartet. Since 1999 he has been cellist of the Ives Quartet. He has been a core member of the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players since 1985 and has served as artist/faculty at the Rocky Ridge Music Center and the Schlern and Orfeo International Music Festivals. Principal cellist of the Mendocino Music Festival, he has performed and toured with the San Francisco Symphony and served as principal with the Chamber Symphony of San Francisco. He especially enjoys summertime at the Telluride Chamber Music Festival, where he relishes hiking in the San Juan Mountains.
