Personal bio
George Somero received his Bachelor's degree at Carleton College and his Ph.D. from Stanford (Biology). Before joining the Stanford faculty in 1995, he held faculty positions at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and Oregon State University. His research focuses on the effects of temperature, salinity and oxygen availability on physiological, biochemical and molecular systems of marine animals and involves research along the central California coast and in Antarctica.
