Personal bio
Manu Kumar completed his Bachelors in Electrical and Computer Engineering with University Honors from Carnegie Mellon University (1992-1995). He holds a Maters in Software Engineering with a concentration in Business, also from Carnegie Mellon University (1995-1997). Manu received a PhD in Computer Science with a distinction in Teaching from Stanford University in 2007. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon Manu was a Lecturer at Carnegie Mellon University and has also been a Visiting Lecturer at Stanford University. As his day job Manu is the founder and Chief Firestarter of K9 Ventures, a technology-focused micro-VC fund located in Palo Alto California. He has been an investor in companies such as Twilio, Lyft, Lytro, Occipital, Coin, Tangible Play and many more. His interests include working with smart people, building cool new technologies, developing new businesses, constantly learning and teaching. Manu lives and works in Palo Alto.
