Personal bio
Susan Schuyler has a Ph.D. in English from Stanford University, an M.Phil. from Oxford University, and a B.A. in English and History from Georgetown University. Her research interests include Victorian theatre, nineteenth-century literature and cultural history, and popular culture of all kinds. Her publications include essays in Nineteenth-Century Studies, Journal of Victorian Culture, and a short essay in the anthology Crowds (ed. Jeffrey Schnapp and Matthew Tiews, Stanford University Press, 2007). She is currently co-editing a pop culture reader This is Pop: A Culture Reader for Writers with Marjorie Ford (PWR) for Pearson Longman. Schuyler has brought her interest in mass media and popular culture to PWR courses including The Rhetoric of Reality Culture; The Rhetoric of Mass Audiences; Soap Operas and Soap Boxes: The Rhetoric of Performance; Joy! Rage! Horror! The Rhetoric of Melodrama; and Real and Imagined Lives: Narrative, Rhetoric, and Identity.
