Personal bio
Walter Scheidel is Dickason Professor in the Humanities and especially interested in ancient history, historical demography, and comparative and transdisciplinary approaches to the past. Before joining Stanford's faculty in 2003, he worked at the Universities of Vienna, Cambridge, and Chicago. Syllabi can be accessed at
