Saumya Sankaran saumyas
Personal bio
Saumya received her B.S./M.S. combined degree in biology from Brandeis University (2009) and her PhD in cell and molecular biology from Stanford University (2016). Her doctoral research focused on processes that dynamically regulate DNA, and how errors in these regulatory mechanisms lead to disease states such as cancer. Saumya is interested in understanding the molecular bases underlying cellular processes, what happens when they go awry, and how this information helps us identify genetic and molecular therapeutic targets to treat diseases. Alongside her research, has taught extensively in introductory laboratory courses and upper level biology classes, both at Brandeis and Stanford.
