Personal bio
McDowell (Mac) Kenley, who recently retired from the positon of Principal Trombonist of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, is a former member of the NBC Tonight Show Band and Doc Severinsen Orchestras. He has also performed with Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Louis Bellson’s Big Band, Broadway shows, and the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. His recent publications include “Il Mattaccino: music and dance of the matachin and its role in Italian comedy” (Early Music) and “Orchestral Sectional: the Operas of Giuseppe Verdi, Otello” (ITA Journal). “Mac” studied Trombone with Alan Ostrander (N.Y. Philharmonic), Edward Kleinhammer (Chicago Symphony), Glenn Dodson and Robert S. Harper (Philadelphia Orchestra), and Eberhard Schreuerman (Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra). Currently teaching |
