Personal bio
Julie Kennedy received her B.S. degree in Geology from U.C. Davis and her Ph.D. from Stanford in 1992. She has been active in designing and running the Earth Systems Program since 1994. Julie teaches classes on interdisciplinary problem analysis and written and oral communication of environmental topics. Julie is also one of 25 faculty who co-teach the Earth Systems gateway course, Introduction to Earth Systems. She advises and works on research projects with students whose interests include ecology, energy, land systems management, ocean science and policy, sustainability, environmental education, and science communication. Julie enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Julie is Professor (Teaching) in Environmental Earth System Science, Associate Director for Academics of the Earth Systems Program, Senior Fellow in the Woods Institute for the Environment, and the Peter E. Haas Faculty Co-Director of the Haas Center for Public Service.
