Dr. Jessi Pipert is the Associate Director of Stanford Arts Institute, where she teaches courses on interdisciplinary arts and administers SAI's undergraduate programs, including Honors in the Arts and the Inter-Arts Minor. Jessi is a dramaturg, director and theatre historian with a specialization in political and activist performance. She received her PhD from Stanford University's Theatre & Performance Studies Department, where her research focused on the relationship between theatrical and political acts in agitprop performance: a genre of anti-fascist street theatre popular in the final years of the Weimar Republic (1926-1933). Jessi also holds an MA in Theaterwissenschaft from the Freie Universität Berlin and a BA in Drama from the University of Alberta. Her writing has been published in Theatre Survey, Theatre Topics, TDR, and Medieval Feminist Forum, among others.
