Personal bio
Dr. Jessi Pipert is the Associate Director of Stanford Arts Institute, where she teaches courses on interdisciplinary arts and administers SAI's undergraduate programs, including Honors in the Arts and the Inter-Arts Minor. Jessi is a dramaturg, director and theatre historian with a specialization in political and activist performance. She received her PhD from Stanford University's Theatre & Performance Studies Department, where her research focused on the relationship between theatrical and political acts in agitprop performance: a genre of anti-fascist street theatre popular in the final years of the Weimar Republic (1926-1933). Jessi also holds an MA in Theaterwissenschaft from the Freie Universität Berlin and a BA in Drama from the University of Alberta. Her writing has been published in Theatre Survey, Theatre Topics, TDR, and Medieval Feminist Forum, among others. Currently teaching
