Personal bio
Hillary Miller is a Lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric. She received her Ph.D in Theatre from the CUNY Graduate Center, and her dissertation, "Drop Dead: Municipal Crisis and the Geographies of Performance in New York City, 1972-1982," focused on performance practices in four neighborhoods during one of the largest municipal crises in the nation?s history. Her writing has appeared in publications including Theatre Journal, The Radical History Review, Theatre Survey, PAJ, and The Brooklyn Rail. Her areas of interest include the sociology of culture, the arts and austerity policies, community-based theatre, and dramatic structure. She received her MFA in Dramatic Writing from the Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, and her BA in Theatre and Women?s Studies from Dartmouth College.
