Personal bio
Gigi Otalvaro-Hormillosa is a San Francisco-based performance artist, writer, psychogeographer, and Ph.D. candidate in Theater & Performance Studies at Stanford, with a minor in Art History. Her research engages cultural memory, the politics of space, and the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality, as well as art and activism--from Buenos Aires to San Francisco. She has received awards from the Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art, the San Francisco Art Commission, and the National Association for Latino Art and Culture, among others. She has recently been commissioned to write performance and visual art reviews for Art Practical and SF MoMA's Open Space publications.
