Personal bio
Arturas Vailionis received his Masters degree in Physics from Vilnius University, Lithuania in 1989 and his Ph.D. from Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden in 1997. Arturas was a Research Associate at Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1997-2000) before joining Stanford University in 2000. He is currently Director of the X-ray Lab at Geballe Laboratory of Advanced Materials. His interest is in structural properties of functional complex oxide thin films under epitaxial strain in order to understand how change of conditions, such as growth, strain and dimensionality, are affecting structure of complex oxides and its effect on functional properties.
