LAW 348: Health Care Regulation, Finance and Policy

This course provides the legal, institutional, and economic background necessary to understand the financing and production of health services in the U.S. Potential topics include: health reform, health insurance (Medicare and Medicaid, employer-sponsored insurance, the uninsured), medical malpractice and quality regulation, pharmaceuticals, the corporate practice of medicine, regulation of fraud and abuse, and international comparisons. nThe syllabus for this course can be found at https://syllabus.stanford.edu. nThis class is crosslisted with HRP 391, PublPol 231, and MGTECON 331.nElements used in grading: Participation, attendance, class presentation, and final exam.nThis course is open to first-year Law School students.
