Politics of memorializing WW II focusing on Berlin. How the memory of WW II and its representation became constitutive to the self-consciousness of democratic culture in Germany. What constitutes the nature of collective memory; who has the authority to represent the war; the function of the memorial in public consciousness; and limits of representation of terror or genocide.
