Gilbert Chu

Gilbert Chu Gilbert Chu received a BA in physics from Princeton, a PhD in theoretical physics from MIT, worked as a research associate in theoretical physics at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. He then followed an old dream by earning an MD from Harvard Medical School and an internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He went to Stanford for a medical oncology fellowship and a postdoctoral laboratory fellowship in Biochemistry, subsequently joining the Stanford faculty, where he is Professor of Medicine (Oncology) and Biochemistry. Dr. Chu received the Rita Allen Foundation Award for Cancer Research and the Burroughs-Wellcome Clinical Scientist Award for Translational Research. He also cares for cancer patients as a medical oncologist. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Chu enjoys swimming, hiking, and learning to play the piano.
